In order to meet the needs of building energy conservation application projects, studies the thermal parameters of the energy saving design of a planting roof, including the soil thermal conductivity and the additional thermal resistance of the vegetation layer. Measures the thermal conductivity of six kinds of soil sample materials at different humidity, and obtains a formula for calculating the soil thermal conductivity by regression analysis. Proposes two kinds of common reference values of thermal conductivity which are 0.51 W/m·Kfor improved soil and 0.25 W/m·Kfor inorganic compound soil. Based on the field measurement and simulation analysis of planting roof, studies the relationship between the equivalent thermal resistance and the heat flux. According to the different status of vegetation coverage, proposes that the reference value of additional thermal resistance of vegetation layer is 0.3 to 0.5 m2·K/W.
